Short films by primary school students across Australia & Japan
Community Banashi connects students, teachers and academics in Australia and Japan through the creative medium of storytelling.
The concept of “places” anchors this project, serving as currency to foster deep awareness and understanding between both countries. Australian expertise came into play, as students were mentored by film and language practitioners/experts to tell engaging stories of their locales. Short films were produced by students from diverse schools in Australia and Japan that include multilingual access through Japanese/ English/ Yolngu Matha.
The Community Banashi Project acknowledges the Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of this nation. We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands on which we work and live. We pay our respects to ancestors and Elders, past and present.
The Community Banashi Project is committed to honouring Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ unique cultural and spiritual relationships to the land, waters and seas and their rich contribution to society.
